The One About the 2-Month Comparison
Here is a picture of Callum at 2 months:
Here are his big brothers, both at around 2 1/2 months old:
Here is a picture I found of Ernie at 4 months.
Here are his big brothers, both at around 2 1/2 months old:
Gavin--much thicker hair
Asher--much fuller face
Now just for fun I thought I would see what Ernie and I looked like around this age. Here is a picture of me. It wasn't labeled, so I am not sure exactly how old I am. I would guess somewhere between
2-4 months.

The One About Callum's 2-month checkup
Callum is 2 months old. He is smiling now, and starting to coo when you talk to him. He watches people a lot and smiles at them. I love when newborns start to become more interactive. Callum had his 2-month checkup this morning. He is a healthy little boy. He gained a pound in the last month and now weighs 10 lbs, 8 ozs and is 23 inches tall. These numbers still kill me, because he is such a peanut compared to the other boys. At 2 months, Gavin was over 14 lbs and 25 inches tall and Asher was over 17 lbs and 25 1/2 inches tall. I really think he is looking more and more like Gavin as a baby. I should do another post comparing their pictures at this age. Callum is still sleeping like a champion, at least 6-7 hour stretches. He is such an easy baby.
The snow last week put a halt on harvest, but the boys couldn't wait to get out there and play in it. They were out that morning by 7:00 a.m. playing in the snow before Gavin got on the bus. I couldn't believe they managed to make this giant snowball all by themselves.
This last weekend was a busy weekend for us. Saturday was filled with Halloween Story Hour at the library, a babysitter while I ran to a craft fair, and then a birthday party for one of Gavin's classmates. Asher is so cute during story hour. He and the librarian, Idella, are buddies. When she reads a book, she might make a comment or ask a question. Asher is always the one child who answers or says, "yeah" when she makes comments about the books. It's like a one-on-one conversation between the two of them. He also loves to share stories with her. One of the books talked about one person scaring another person. So Asher said, "Idella, my mommy was vacuuming and I walked into the office behind her and she didn't see me and she screamed. It was so funny." It's so cute when he says her name because it comes out "I Deh Wa."
On Sunday, the guys still weren't back in the fields so we decided to take the older boys to the movie Hotel Transylvania. It was really cute. We went during naptime, and poor Asher just couldn't stay awake. Now we are all just gearing up for Halloween. The boys are making these cute little treat bags (idea courtesy of Pinterest) to take to daycare and school.

The One About The Bald Spot
All three of my boys were born with lots of dark hair, which I loved. Neither Gavin nor Asher really lost much hair, but Callum is slowly losing some of it. He must rub his head on his blanket as he sleeps, because a lovely bald spot is forming on one side.
Callum is 8 weeks old today. He is changing a lot. He is smiling now, and starting to coo back when we talk to him.

The One About Mommy's Little Monster
I just love his little outfit. The monster on the butt is so cute. He also has a football one, with a football on his bottom.
I found that football blanket at the Elgin Craft Fair a few weeks ago. It has Huskers on the back. Love it!
We all went to Lambert's Pumpkin Patch on Saturday. Here are a couple pics from that:
The One About the Pink-Out
I really wanted to share this. My Aunt Judy has been gone over a year now. My cousins did something really sweet to honor her memory. Last night was the Pink-Out volleyball triangular in Ewing. We hosted Chambers-Wheeler Central and Cedar Valley. The schools all sold pink shirts that say "Volley for the Cure!" Everyone was told to wear pink to the games, and all the teams were dressed in pink. A pink volleyball signed by the Lady Huskers was auctioned off to raise money for breast cancer research.
My cousins (who I still can't believe are in high school) both play on the varsity team. Riley and Sammie painted their fingernails pink and had wrote Judy's name and initials on their nails.
Judy loved volleyball. She always brought Grandma Rita to the games, even if they were far away. Judy was really looking forward to watching Riley play high school ball. With Suz being the coach for so many years and Riley groomed from birth to be a volleyball player, we have all been anxious to watch her play in high school. Sadly, Judy only got to see Riley's freshman year. I know Judy was watching the games last night, and that she was smiling big when we beat Chambers. :)
On the way to the gym last night, I was explaining to Gavin why everyone was wearing pink. When I told him how the girls wrote Judy's name on their fingernails, he was confused. He doesn't remember Judy at all, which breaks my heart. I remember the last time I took the boys to see Judy at Grandma Rita's house that July. I remember them giving her big hugs as we left, never dreaming that would be the last time. And now, they have no memory of her. I wonder at what age kids start their memories. I have two distinct memories from my Kindergarten year, but that's my earliest memory. Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Smith both died when I was 7 years old, and I have many memories of them. I remember the peppermint smell of their apartment in Clearwater. I remember Grandma Smith letting me look through her box of costume jewelry. I remember how Grandpa Smith was a great artist, and drew me the perfect horse. I remember visiting them all the time and the one time that 3-year Nate pulled the fire alarm in their apartment building. :) I also remember visiting Grandpa Smith in the hospital, and watching the helicopter take off as he was life-flighted from Neligh. We spent a lot of time with them when we were little, because my Mom was so close with them. I have never asked my brothers if they remember them at all. Nate was only 3, so I doubt it, but Travis would have been 5 when they died. It just makes me sad to think about children who have lost their parents at such a young age, and how if something were to happen to me now, my boys wouldn't remember me. Another reminder to take care of myself, live a healthy life, and slow down.

The One About My Little Cowboy
Asher has been OBSESSED the last few months with being a cowboy. Ernie took him to Bomgaars one day this summer and bought him a cowboy hat. Ernie said Asher wore it around the store, stopping to say "YEE HAW!" very loudly every few aisles. I stopped in Payless a month ago and bought him some cowboy boots. He wore them to bed that night, just refused to take them off. He has worn them to daycare almost every day, even if he is wearing Adidas shorts. Every time he sees someone, he has to stop and ask them, "See my boots?" It's so funny to me, because we are definitely not cowboys. The only "cowboy" we really know is my cousin, Matthew. Matthew is always wearing boots and a cowboy hat. Asher couldn't wait to show Matthew his boots and hat...in fact, Matthew rides the school van in the morning with Gavin, so Asher is usually out on the front porch every morning to wave at Matthew. Of course, he has to be in his boots and hat.
