The One About Asher's Cute Smile

I don't know how this started, but Asher thinks this is his "cute" smile. Whenever we ask him to smile, we get this:

He crinkles his eyes up and gives us the goofiest smile.  I love it!  Lately, he has been asking to be unbuckled when we are in the Tahoe driving.  I have told him that he can't or the police will arrest him.  So now he constantly says, "The police rest me?"  whenever he does something wrong or if he asks to be unbuckled.

Today, Gavin had his last day of summer preschool.  As we were going through this folder to look at all the papers he completed, he was telling me about each one.  Something reminded him of what this other child said.  He couldn't remember the boy's name, so he said, "What is the name of that boy with the polka dots on his face?"  (freckles).  :)

The One About The House (8.3.11)

We have officially started on the house.  Here is our house site yesterday.  This shot is taken from down by the road.  I love how the sun is shining up on the hill where the house will sit.

Here is what the site looks like this evening.

This is from the hill, looking down at the road (and where the guys' building will sit)

This is up on the hill looking south, our view from our back porch.  If you look really close, you can see a white fence off in the distance.  That is the cemetary where my Grandma Joline is buried.  I love that we will overlook that.  Isn't the view just amazing??  It is just beautiful out there, and so peaceful!

Asher wishes we would just forget the house and let him play in the enormous dirt area.  He loved playing at the site.  Gavin was at Bible School tonight, so no pictures to share of him.  He is very concerned right now, because the guys found mountain lion tracks less than a mile south of the site in my Grandpa's field, and my Uncle Kevin had one run out in front of him on the road about a month ago.  So they are nearby, at least for now.  I am guessing he is going to ask to go mountain lion hunting very soon.  :)
Stay tuned for more pictures.  In the next 2 1/2 weeks, they are digging the well and basement.

The One About Being Completely Overwhelmed

That is exactly how I have felt this last week or two.  Ernie is working long hours.  Asher is still working on his potty training.  I am trying to get as much done with the house before I go back to work.  It's too damn hot and I haven't been getting my workouts in.  I am suffering from insomnia.  I just found out I have a new assignment for work this year, and will no longer be in Petersburg.  I am trying to get the boys to the pool, preschool, Bible School, the park, etc. before I go back to work.  And now Aunt Judy developed pneumonia and is in the hospital on a ventilator.  It has just been one thing after another.  I don't want to complain.  I know this is a busy time of year for everyone.  I just feel overwhelmed.  Despite how crazy busy the first month of school is, I really think I need that routine, that distraction from other things in my life.  I start back to work next Wednesday, the 10th, and I can honestly say that I am ready.  We are headed to the pool this afternoon with some friends and their children, and I am excited to just bask in the sun.  :)
