The One About New Years 2011

Instead of a big night out on the town, we took the kids to the Methodist Church Family New Years Eve party.  My brother's girlfriend was helping in the planning, and really wanted the boys to come.  It turned out to be a really fun night.  I wish I had taken my camera.  They had tables set up with different board games.  I got in a fun game of Candyland with Gavin and his friend, Parker.  Everyone at the party took turns at a 1,000 piece puzzle.  They also had a bean bag toss (where Asher spent most of the night) and a mini-golf hole.  At 7:30 they showed two different movies:  a cartoon for the younger kids and another movie for the older kids and adults.  Of course, the little kids all wanted to just stay out and play the games.  At 10:00, they did a countdown and dropped balloons from the ceiling.  The kids had so much fun.  We were home by 10:30, and I was in bed by 10:52.  Oh, the days when we would actually stay up till midnight or party at someone's house are long gone.
Looking back, 2011 has been a big year for us.  We made some important decisions, got started on the house, got rid of the training wheels, survived potty training, celebrated Grandma Rita's 85th birthday and our 7th anniversary, took some family day trips to the monster truck show, zoo, pumpkin patch, and fish farm, and endured through Judy's illness and death.  Gavin had his first t-ball game and first up-at-dawn hunting trip.  Ernie survived his first combine fire.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the 2011:

Happy New Year!
