Sadly, nothing more has been done on the house. The building, however, has been going up pretty quickly. Here are some shots from today:
Here is the giant hole that is our basement. Our contractor called the cement guy, and he promises to pour the basement walls on Friday/Saturday. We have heard that before, so I am not holding my breath.
The boys love playing in the giant dirt piles around the house site.
We went out to the fields tonight so the boys could ride in the tractor and combine one last time. Gavin was riding with Uncle Travis when he picked the last rows of the season. Harvest 2011 is officially complete! This entire season when we went out to ride, I always rode with Asher. Tonight, he kicked me out of the tractor and rode alone with Daddy. :(

The One About the Tom & Jerry Party
For those of you who know me, you know that I will write a sappy birthday post on Monday. Till then, here are some pictures from Gavin's birthday party, which I am proud to say I made it through without a single tear.
The invitation:
Some before-party pictures:
Gavin standing before his window-marker masterpiece. I love his little drawings. I just can't get enough of them. His art folder is going to be clear full before he even starts school.
Some pictures of the kids playing together and opening presents, which we all know is a group activity during a child's party.
This picture makes me laugh, because Gavin and I both twirl our hair the same way, the same part of our head. Ernie will come home at night, and are sitting side-by-side in the chair twirling away. :)
Some pictures of the cake:
The night ended with hugs.

Gavin & his best friend Sydney: I love listening to Gavin and Sydney chat. They are such good friends, and I love that they have grown up together.

The One About Building a House of Books
Little brothers are really a pain in the butt sometimes. Gavin can confirm this. Whenever he builds something, Asher just can't help but wreck it. So tonight Gavin was using his books to build a house. Asher was sitting nearby, so I was talking with him about how he needs to be careful and NOT wreck Gavin's house. Well Gavin accidently hit one of the books and the house fell over. Asher immediately looks up at me and says, "I not do that. Gavin do that."
The One About the Basement (11.1.11)
Exactly one month after they broke ground on the building, we can say the same for the house. They dug the basement today. Luckily, I had taken today off from work so we were able to go out and watch.
It just killed them to not climb up those piles of dirt. Not much has been accomplished with the building in the last month, but the plan is to pour the cement floor this week. Of course, I know this plan can quickly change. Especially now that we are in November, and who knows how long the weather is going to hold out. I am doing my best to stay patient and keep reminding myself that in the big picture of life, this is just a fraction of time...and it will all be worth it in the end.

The One About Trick or Treat 2011
Here are some pictures from our trick or treat experience tonight. After insisting on the T-Rex costume and making me return the cool rocket ship costume I had already bought, Asher didn't want want to wear his costume. We finally got the costume on him (it took 2 of us), but he absolutely refused to wear the head. I gave up the fight early in the evening. Gavin couldn't wait to wear his costume, although I didn't realize how short it was on his long legs.
This is the only shot I was able to get of Asher with his head on.
And this is how happy he was with me after I tried to put the head on him for that picture. :)
Luckily, we had a toy in the bottom of the stroller, so that made everything better. Isn't that cute how his tail is sticking up beside him?
We ran into some daycare friends along the way. Here are the boys with Belle (Asher's future girlfriend). Of course, Asher had to step front and center right before I took the picture.
Gavin and his best buddy, Parker. How funny they ended up with the same costume.
Asher enjoyed getting candy from Father Kramper at the Trunk or Treat
The boys had to hit Carol's house, one of their favorite ladies in town. She has a witch decoration on an old gas pump outside her house, one of those that looks like the witch crashed into the thing. Gavin waits every year for that witch to "fly into town" for Halloween. It's a running joke we have with Carol, always asking her when the witch is going to get here whenever we see her. We visit that witch often on our walks around town.
Gavin had to closely inspect the scary decorations at the "skeleton house." Asher was pretty scared at this house. I had to go up to the door with him, and when the owner opened the door, Asher said, "Look at that guy down there. He's scary!"
Overall, the boys had a fun night. Gavin just told me, "This is the best Halloween ever!"

The One About Asher's Crazy Hair
I just keep waiting for Asher's hair to grow long enough. Eventually, it has to get long and heavy enough that it will start lying down like it used to. The front is long enough, but the back still sticks straight up. I am trying to be patient, but in the meantime, I am forced to have pictures like these:
These were taken out in the bean field, while Asher was waiting for his turn to ride in the combine. We have gone out there a few times in the past week to ride with Daddy and Uncle Travis.

The One About the Building (10.1.11)
Last week, we officially broke ground on the building. The guys poured the footings. This week, they will level and pour the cement floor. We are also hoping they dig the house basement sometime this week. They are just waiting on the big backhoe.
